The next step in creating an
estimate is to choose the repair(s) for the selected vehicle.
After the repair category is selected, the program goes to the repair
menu. Click on or position the
highlighted bar on the desired item and press the ENTER key.
To select multiple items, move the highlighted bar to each item using the
space bar to toggle a check mark in front of the item. If your desired item is
not in the menu , you may want to go back to the Repair Category menu and select
another general category to find the item.
To go back to the previous menu, press the "ESC" key once.
Repeat the process until you have located your item.
If you are still unable to locate the item, check the Appendix in the
rear portion of this manual. All
the repair names are listed alphabetically and are cross-referenced to the
appropriate repair category. If the
desired item is not on the list, then you may add it to the program.
(See: "Changing the Repair Names" in Chapter
3, and "Repair
Categories" in Chapter 5.)
Selecting
Quantities
Once a repair has been selected, the cursor is then positioned on the Quantity field. The quantity column is automatically set to default at one (1) item except for items in Dynamic Kits.. To change the quantity, simply type in the number you wish, and the change will be displayed. All quantity changes are temporary and for the current estimate only.
Saving
the Estimate, Invoice, or WIP
When you exit or select "New Vehicle", Quick Quote will ask you if you want to save this this as an Estimate, Work in Progress or an Invoice. Up to 30,000 estimates are saved in a continuous loop. Use F2 in settings to set the number. When the counter reaches the number set, the program resets the counter to 1. This avoids cluttering your hard disk with old estimates. To view past estimates, choose F7 in the first screen. The Estimate Log shows you three estimates at a time. Use the page and arrow keys to move thru the estimates. The top appearing estimate can be viewed complete by pressing Enter. F9 will reload the saved estimate into Quick Quote. You can also use the search keys to find one or more saved estimates. F5-Reset will clear the search or switch types.
SKILL LEVEL
RATINGS
Jobs are rated; "A" Specialized Technician, "B" Journeyman, "C" Light Line. A blank space in the skill level column will cause a "B" rate for that line. In File Maintenance Program. Go into Skill Levels as described above. Arrow down past "C". Choose "N", tax will not be charged on that item. Labor on that line will be charged at the "B" rate.
GETTING AROUND IN
QUICK QUOTE
Moving around in Quick Quote is quite simple. The flashing cursor is your indication of what action you need to take next in the program. Within each drop down menu, you can utilize the Arrow keys (up and down), the "Page up" and "Page down" keys, and the "Home" and the "End" keys to take you to the top or the bottom of the list.
The program can also speed scroll, so you can type the first letter of the item you wish to locate in the list, and the highlighted bar will go to the first item beginning with that letter. After locating the item and positioning the highlighted bar on it, press the ENTER key to select the item. The program will automatically continue to your next task.
If an incorrect selection is made from a menu, you may go back one menu simply by pressing the "ESC" key. The one exception to this is while on the first line of the first repair menu. Pressing the ESC key at this point will take you all the way back to the Year prompt to start over with the correct vehicle.
Other keys commonly used in Quick Quote consist of the Function, or "F" keys. The functions for each of these are displayed right on the screen for your convenience. See the Function Key Index in the back of this manual for a complete list. Additionally, the "Delete" key is utilized in the program as well. One example of it's use is in removing lines on a multi-line estimate.
